Auditions

Would you like to be a part of this orchestra? You can get to know us during one of our open rehearsals at the beginning of the academic year.

At the start of a new academic year, new musicians can join the orchestra. As we have grown to a ninety to hundred member orchestra, the places are restricted. In order to keep the selection of musicians fair and effectual we organise auditions.

What do we expect from you?

First of all, please don’t let the auditions scare you. It is a good idea to join our open rehearsals, that take place before the auditions, as they already give you an indication of the music we are playing and what we expect from our musicians.

Our audition committee asks you to play a short piece that shows who you are and what you are capable of as a musician. We don’t ask you to perform a piece of sight-reading. We also pose you some questions, asking for your motivation and musical experience.

If you are a percussionist you are required to be present at one of our open rehearsals, as for practical reasons the auditions will take place during one of them. For none-percussionists the open rehearsals are not compulsory, but warmly advised.

The auditions for 2019-2020 already took place, but keep an eye on this page for more information about the auditions for next academic year.
